About:

We're a group of people excited about anything that grows in the ground! We come from a wide variety of backgrounds and enjoy sharing our knowledge within the group and with the community.

Our produce is grown at each of our individual gardens and farms, scattered in and around Hillsboro. Our members tend to specialize in certain items, be it lettuce, apples, garlic, gourds, peppers, herbs, tomatoes, honey, or eggs. We carry many specialty products and heirloom varieties, often grown organically (but not certified organic). We bring you the very best produce, grown by folks that love what they're doing! Because of our specialization, we are a vast source of gardening information. We welcome questions, so stop by the booth!

Why Tualatin Valley Garden Club love Farmers Markets:

We like the market because it enables club members to sell extra produce. We also like the variety of vendors.

Favorite Market Recipe:

Tomato Soup

Ingredients

  • 14 quarts cooked tomatoes

  • 7 medium onions

  • 2 stalks celery

  • 3 bay leaves (optional)

  • 14 sprigs parsley

  • 14 T flour

  • 14 T marjoram

  • 3 T salt

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 2 t pepper

  • 1 1/2 cup lemon juice

  • 1 t Tabasco

Chop and cook tomatoes, onions, celery, bay leaves, and parsley until tender. Remove bay leaves and run through blender. Take one quart of tomato juice and add flour, marjoram, salt, lemon juice, and Tabasco. Add the remaining juice and simmer and stir for 1 hour. Put in hot jars and process 35 minutes. Do not add milk to this soup, the lemon juice will make it curdle.
